Catholic Life
Our Faith
"In a Catholic school, all pupils are invited to encounter Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as the living person at the heart of their study in a way that respects their individual religious identity. As well as seeking to assist parents with the education and religious formation of their children, Catholic schools strive also to be of service to society."
Rt Rev Marcus Stock,' To Know You More Clearly' RE Directory (2023)

Catholic Schools Inspection
Following our diocesan inspection on the 26th & 27th June 2018, please find attached our full inspection report. We are delighted to share that the inspection found St Vincent's to be an 'Outstanding Catholic school'.
-
St Vincent’s is a welcoming community where everyone shares the headteacher’s clear vision and where everyone feels valued and accepted. The mission and ethos of Catholic education is at the centre of the school community.
-
The quality of Collective Worship is outstanding. It is at the heart of the school. From an early age pupils are encouraged and supported to plan and lead worship, and are confident when praying with the school community.
-
The Catholic Life is outstanding because the well-being, spiritual and personal development of pupils and staff underpin all that the school does. Pupils are actively involved in a range of activities which contribute significantly to their moral, social and emotional development.
-
The quality of Religious Education is outstanding. The areas for improvement from the last inspection have all been addressed. Lessons are focused and engaging allowing pupils to make good or better-than-good progress over time. Pupils enjoy their learning. Behaviour is exemplary.
Religious Education
Religious Education is the core subject taught in St Vincent's and 10% of all curriculum time is given over to the teaching of this subject in every class.
We follow the recommended 'Come and See' programme approved by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle.

Mini Vinnies
Over the festive season, the Mini-Vinnies bring the joy of Christmas to our local community by regaling our neighbours with a repertoire of traditional Christmas carols. Our jolly carollers sing at ASDA, at Walker Park's YMCA cafe, at a local Residential Home and at our own school gates - much to the delight of their audiences.
Additionally, our caring Mini-Vinnies raise money for charity by holding raffles at the school Christmas performances. In total, the children raised over £500 for their good causes in Christmas 2022.
During the holy season of Lent, our Year 5 Mini-Vinnies run their 'We CAN Help' project. The children collect tins of canned food to donate to three local food banks. This year, the school pledged to donate £100 for the next Minie-Vinnie project if they managed to collect 210 cans...they exceeded this target on day 3!
